The official bundle prices
The Linux Foundation lists five bundles across its Golden Kubestronaut bundle page and its Kubestronaut program page. The Golden Kubestronaut bundle is $4,229 and contains all sixteen exams. The Kubestronaut bundle is $1,645. The Kubestronaut to Golden Kubestronaut upgrade bundle is $2,669. Two upgrade bundles take a person who already holds CKA, or already holds CKAD, to Kubestronaut, each listed at $1,235. These are the prices on the pages as read on 23 October 2026.
The bundle page also offers a money-back guarantee and a quote option for groups of more than ten people, and it displayed a promotional banner without an end date on the check date. Prices change, so confirm the figure at checkout; every number here carries the date it was read.
The upgrade bundles list their names and prices on the program page. Their eligibility terms (which certifications must be active, whether they can be combined, how they are redeemed) are not described on the pages we read, so we do not describe them either. Read the terms on the Linux Foundation checkout page before relying on an upgrade path.
| Bundle | Price (USD) | Source page |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Kubestronaut bundle (16 exams) | $4,229 | Golden Kubestronaut bundle page |
| Kubestronaut bundle (5 exams) | $1,645 | Kubestronaut program page |
| Kubestronaut to Golden upgrade bundle | $2,669 | Kubestronaut program page |
| CKA to Kubestronaut upgrade bundle | $1,235 | Kubestronaut program page |
| CKAD to Kubestronaut upgrade bundle | $1,235 | Kubestronaut program page |
Individual list prices for all 16 exams
Each exam page lists its own price. Five hands-on exams (CKA, CKAD, CKS, LFCS and CNPE) are listed at $445 each, and the other eleven (the nine other multiple-choice exams, CNPA and the hands-on ICA) at $250 each. The five cost $2,225 and the eleven $2,750, so the sixteen exams add up to $4,975 at list price. The table gives every exam with its price and its validity, which is 2 years on every exam page.
The rows follow our suggested study order so the running total shows how much you will have spent at each step if you buy exam by exam. The final row is the same total whatever order you use.

Bundle against individual: the arithmetic
Starting from zero certifications, the Golden bundle at $4,229 is $746 cheaper than the $4,975 you would pay buying the sixteen exams one by one, a saving of 15.0%. The five Kubestronaut exams cost $1,835 individually against $1,645 as a bundle, saving $190. Going Kubestronaut first and upgrading later costs $4,314, which is $85 more than buying the Golden bundle directly.
All sums use list prices from the exam pages and the bundle pages as read on the check date. They exclude taxes, promotions and any currency conversion your checkout applies.
The reason the bundle wins comes from the price mix. The five $445 exams carry most of the cost, and bundles discount them most. Averaging the Golden bundle over sixteen exams gives $264 per exam, which is lower than the $445 hands-on price and higher than the $250 multiple-choice price. The bundle is a good deal mostly because of the expensive exams, not the cheap ones.
| Path | Calculation | Total (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| All 16 exams individually | 5 x $445 + 11 x $250 | $4,975 |
| Golden bundle | Listed price | $4,229 |
| Saving of the bundle | $4,975 - $4,229 | $746 |
| Kubestronaut five individually | CKA + CKAD + CKS + KCNA + KCSA | $1,835 |
| Kubestronaut bundle | Listed price | $1,645 |
| Kubestronaut bundle, then Golden upgrade | $1,645 + $2,669 | $4,314 |
| Other eleven individually | LFCS + PCA + ICA + CCA + CAPA + CGOA + CBA + OTCA + KCA + CNPA + CNPE | $3,140 |
| Upgrade bundle instead of the eleven | $3,140 - $2,669 | $471 saved |
Upgrade paths if you already hold certifications
If you already hold the five Kubestronaut certifications, the upgrade bundle at $2,669 covers the other eleven, which cost $3,140 individually, so the upgrade saves $471. If you hold only CKA, the CKA to Kubestronaut bundle at $1,235 replaces buying CKAD, CKS, KCNA and KCSA separately for $1,390, and the path through both upgrades totals $3,904 against $4,530 for buying the other fifteen exams one by one. Check eligibility on the official page.
The upgrade routes assume the upgrade bundles apply to your situation. The program page lists them by name and price only, so the eligibility conditions are for the Linux Foundation to confirm.
| You already hold | Cheapest listed route | Cost (USD) | Compared with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nothing | Golden bundle | $4,229 | $4,975 individually |
| The five Kubestronaut certifications | Kubestronaut to Golden upgrade | $2,669 | $3,140 for the other eleven individually |
| CKA only | CKA to Kubestronaut upgrade, then Golden upgrade | $3,904 | $4,530 for the other fifteen individually; $4,229 for the Golden bundle, which includes CKA again |
| CKAD only | CKAD to Kubestronaut upgrade, then Golden upgrade | $3,904 | $4,530 for the other fifteen individually |
A rule for finding your cheapest path
Count the list value of the certifications you already hold. The Golden bundle saves $746 against buying all sixteen individually, so once the list value of what you already hold is greater than $746, buying only the missing exams one by one beats the bundle, because the bundle would charge you again for exams you own. Holding one $445 exam is below that threshold, so the bundle still wins; holding two $445 exams, worth $890, is above it, so buying individually wins unless an upgrade bundle fits better.
This rule compares list prices only. It ignores promotions, tax, vouchers and discounts that holders of the Kubestronaut title may receive, so treat it as a starting point and check the final checkout total.
A practical point about timing: buying exam by exam spreads the cost, while a bundle takes $4,229 at once. If you are unsure you will finish all sixteen, buying the first few exams individually is a cheaper way to find out than prepaying the bundle, at the price of losing the $746 bundle saving if you do go all the way.
- Holding CKA and CKAD (list value $890): the other fourteen cost $4,085 individually, against $4,229 for the bundle.
- Holding KCNA and KCSA only (list value $500): the other fourteen cost $4,475, which is above the $4,229 bundle price, so the bundle is cheaper.
- Holding CKA, KCNA and KCSA (list value $945): the other thirteen cost $4,030 individually, below the bundle.
- Compare your individual total with any upgrade bundle that matches what you hold before deciding.
Worked examples with real numbers
Three starting points show how the pieces combine, all at list prices. A newcomer with no certifications pays $4,229 for the Golden bundle, against $4,975 individually. Someone who already holds the five Kubestronaut certifications pays $2,669 for the upgrade, against $3,140 for the other eleven exams individually. Someone who holds CKA, CKAD and KCNA, with a list value of $1,140, pays $3,835 by buying the other thirteen exams one by one, which is below the bundle price.
In the first case the saving comes entirely from the bundle discount: $746, or 15.0% of the individual total. In the second case the upgrade saves $471, or 15.0% of what those eleven exams cost individually. In the third case no bundle is involved, and the saving against the Golden bundle is $394 because the bundle would charge again for three exams already held.
To run your own numbers, start from the table of individual prices, remove every exam you already hold, add up the rest, and compare that total with the bundle and with each upgrade bundle that matches your situation. Choose the lowest total that you are eligible for, then check it against the live checkout page before paying, since promotions can change the order of the options.
One caution applies to every example: they compare list prices on one date. They do not model exam failures, rescheduling, the cost of lab environments, or the value of the benefits that come with the titles. Those are real considerations, but they are not prices the official pages state, so we do not put numbers on them.
Retakes, validity and renewal
The Linux Foundation exam terms say each exam purchase includes one retake if a passing score is not achieved, so a failed attempt on a single purchase does not need a second payment. Every one of the sixteen exam pages lists 2 years of validity. The pages we read do not publish renewal prices for the certifications, so we print none. As an arithmetic upper bound only, retaking all sixteen exams at today's list prices once per validity cycle would be $4,975 per cycle; real renewal terms are the Linux Foundation's to state.
Validity matters for planning more than for the bundle price. A long program stretched over many months means the first certifications you pass may reach their expiry date while you are still earning the last ones. The pages we read do not say whether Golden Kubestronaut needs every certification valid at the same time, so confirm that before you decide how slowly to go.
The retake in the exam terms is a retake of the same exam under the same purchase. It does not stretch across the bundle: each of the sixteen exams in the bundle has its own retake entitlement under the terms we read, and the terms page is the place to confirm how it works for bundle purchases.
What practice costs on GoldenKube
GoldenKube practice is free. You get 10 free guest answers, then a free account; no credit card is needed. That covers the multiple-choice exams that have a live question bank, which is nine of the sixteen today, and removes practice material from the cost side of the budget. It does not cover the exams themselves, which are bought from the Linux Foundation, and it does not cover hands-on lab environments, which are planned but not available. Practice does not guarantee a pass.
For budgeting, the exam fees are the cost that matters: the bundle at the price above, or the individual list prices. Anything else you spend on courses, lab platforms or books is outside what this page can price.
