Frequently asked questions

Is GoldenKube really free?
Yes. Practice questions, explanations, adaptive review and progress tracking are free. There is no credit card step and no paywall in front of the practice questions.
Is GoldenKube official or affiliated with CNCF or The Linux Foundation?
No. GoldenKube is an independent community learning project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CNCF or The Linux Foundation. Certification names are used only to describe what the practice material covers.
Are these exam dumps?
No. GoldenKube does not publish or collect real exam questions. Practice questions are written to test concepts, and every answer comes with an explanation so you learn why an option is right or wrong.
Do I need an account?
Not at first. Start immediately as a guest and answer up to 10 practice questions with full verdicts and explanations. To keep practicing, use mock exams and sync progress across devices, create a free account; your guest progress is carried over when you sign up.
What data do you store about me?
A random anonymous learner id in a cookie (gkp_uid), plus your answers and progress. If you create an account: your email, name, a password hash and your sign-in sessions. See the Privacy page for the full list and how to delete it.
Which certifications are covered?
GoldenKube is organised around the 16 certifications of the Golden Kubestronaut program. Question banks are available for the multiple-choice exams listed as "Practice available" on the certifications page; the rest are marked with their current status.
What about hands-on exams such as CKA, CKAD, CKS, LFCS and ICA?
Those exams are performance-based, so multiple-choice questions are not the right way to prepare. They are marked "Hands-on exam — labs planned": labs are planned, but they are not available yet.
How does GoldenKube choose what to show me next?
Questions you are due to review come first, then the domain where you are weakest and still have unseen questions, then any new question. Details are on the How it works page.
How does spaced repetition work here?
A wrong answer comes back after 12 other answers. Answer it correctly and it returns after 1 day, then after 4 days, and then counts as mastered. A wrong answer at any step starts that question over.
Can I focus on one topic?
Yes. Focus mode limits practice to a single domain or subdomain you pick from your progress view, and you can leave it at any time.
Can I reset my progress?
Yes. In Settings you can reset your mistakes for one certification, or choose Reset everything to delete all of your progress.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The site is designed mobile first and works the same way on a 360 px wide phone and on a desktop browser.
How do I report a wrong or unclear question?
A report button on every question is coming. Until it ships, there is no in-app way to flag a question; you can email hello@goldenkube.dev.
Who runs GoldenKube?
GoldenKube is an independent project run by an individual, not by a company that sells the exams or training.
