CNPA question bank coverage by exam domain

Last updated

The GoldenKube CNPA bank was written against the six official CNPA domains, with each domain given a share of questions equal to its published weight, so no domain is over- or under-covered. Every question is explained. The table shows the live counts per domain, share and gap.

What the table measures

Each row is one official CNPA exam domain, in the order and with the weight the Linux Foundation publishes. The question count is read from the GoldenKube CNPA bank when the page is served, so it always matches what you can practise today. Share is that count divided by the whole bank, and the gap column is the share minus the official weight, in percentage points: a positive gap means the bank has more questions on that domain than the exam weight alone would suggest, a negative gap means fewer. Explained counts the questions that come with a written explanation, and topic pages counts the public topic pages built from that domain.

Some bank sets use their own domain names; those are mapped to the official domain they cover. Mixed practice sets that span several domains are not forced into one row and are listed separately, which is why the official rows can add up to less than the whole bank.

The weights describe the exam, not this bank. A gap is not an error in the exam or in your preparation, it only tells you where practising here gives you more or less material than the exam is likely to ask about.

Where the CNPA bank leans

There is no coverage gap to read here: the bank was planned from the official weights, so each domain holds the same share of questions as it carries on the exam. That makes the bank a fair rehearsal of the balance of the exam, but not of its depth. A domain with few questions, such as IDPs and Developer Experience or Measuring your Platform, is covered by only a handful of items, so a perfect score there says less than the same score in Platform Engineering Core Fundamentals, which has the most questions. The bank is also smaller than the larger GoldenKube banks, so repeated practice will bring back familiar questions sooner.

How to use this when you practise CNPA

Use the bank to find the domains you cannot yet explain, then read the official sources behind them: the CNCF Platforms White Paper and maturity model for the platform vocabulary, kubernetes.io for controllers, custom resources and security controls, the OpenGitOps principles with the Argo CD and Flux documentation for delivery, and the DORA metrics guide for measurement. Once the bank comes back with familiar questions, switch to explaining each wrong option in your own words, which is closer to what the exam asks than recognising an answer you have seen.
