PVC with an explicit StorageClass and a consuming Pod

Scenario cka-sto-001 · about 7 minutes · 6 points · 9 grader checks

Create a PersistentVolumeClaim on a named StorageClass and mount it in a Pod.

  • storageclass
  • volume

What you will practise

  • Create a PVC with an explicit storageClassName
  • Mount a PVC in a Pod via volumes and volumeMounts
  • Understand WaitForFirstConsumer binding

Start this lab

With the CLI installed and signed in, this command provisions a single node cluster on your Mac, applies the scenario setup and prints the task below.

goldenkube start cka-sto-001

Task

The task text exactly as the CLI shows it. Solve it on the cluster, then run goldenkube submit.

Create the namespace "data". In it, create a PersistentVolumeClaim named "data-pvc" requesting 1Gi with accessMode ReadWriteOnce, using the StorageClass "local-path" (set it explicitly). Then create a Pod named "writer" (image nginx:1.27) in namespace "data" that mounts the PVC "data-pvc" at /data. The pod must be Running and the PVC must be Bound.
