CGOA question bank coverage by exam domain

Last updated

The GoldenKube CGOA bank leans heavily towards Related Practices and is well short on GitOps Principles, the most heavily weighted exam domain. A large mixed set is not tied to one domain, and part of the bank is still unexplained. The table shows the live numbers per domain, share and gap.

What the table measures

Each row is one official CGOA exam domain, in the order and with the weight the Linux Foundation publishes. The question count is read from the GoldenKube CGOA bank when the page is served, so it always matches what you can practise today. Share is that count divided by the whole bank, and the gap column is the share minus the official weight, in percentage points: a positive gap means the bank has more questions on that domain than the exam weight alone would suggest, a negative gap means fewer. Explained counts the questions that come with a written explanation, and topic pages counts the public topic pages built from that domain.

Some bank sets use their own domain names; those are mapped to the official domain they cover. Mixed practice sets that span several domains are not forced into one row and are listed separately, which is why the official rows can add up to less than the whole bank.

The weights describe the exam, not this bank. A gap is not an error in the exam or in your preparation, it only tells you where practising here gives you more or less material than the exam is likely to ask about.

Where the CGOA bank leans

GitOps Principles has the largest negative gap of any CGOA domain: the exam gives it the most weight, but the bank gives it a modest share. GitOps Terminology and GitOps Patterns are also under their weights. Related Practices, which covers neighbouring ideas such as continuous delivery, infrastructure as code and configuration management, is the one domain clearly over-represented. Tooling is close to its weight. The mixed practice set is large and spans several domains, so every official share reads lower than it would without it, but it does not explain the Principles gap on its own.

The bank calls the tooling domain GitOps Tooling; it is mapped to the official Tooling row.

How to use this when you practise CGOA

Do not let the bank set your priorities for CGOA. Read the OpenGitOps principles until you can state each one and recognise it in a scenario, since that is where the exam weight is. Use focus mode on GitOps Principles and GitOps Patterns, and treat a strong Related Practices score as useful background rather than a sign of readiness. Where a question has no explanation, check it against the OpenGitOps material before moving on.
